If this is your first session
with us, we offer some helpful information:
Please arrive five or ten minutes early so your practitioner
can review with you what you are expecting out of your session.
You may be asked about any medical history, past/present
injuries, current physical condition, and other immediate
discomfort you may be experiencing in order to assist us with
customizing your session for your needs.
Your practitioner will then take you to your private
treatment room, will step out so you can disrobe to your level
of comfort, and wait until you indicate you are ready. Some
clients prefer to partially disrobe, and some prefer to
completely disrobe. You will get on the massage table under a
top sheet and be appropriately draped at all times to respect
your modesty. Only the part of the body to be worked on will be
uncovered as required, then draped again.
The therapy room will be comfortable and peaceful for your
relaxation. Soft music may be playing, unless you request
otherwise.
Depending on your specific needs or requests, your
practitioner will do a customized, blended session of modalities
that will benefit you, or the type of treatment or bodywork you
have chosen from our services.
You may talk or just completely relax in silence during your
session. Of course some feedback is often desired between you
and your practitioner if you are addressing a specific problem.
When your session is over, the practitioner will again leave
the room so that you can dress, and will wait for you in the
reception area. We welcome any questions or feedback you have.
*Rolfing
: If you are having a Rolfing
session the procedure
and focus is a bit different. Please contact our Rolfer
for
specific information.
You may want to consult your doctor if in doubt about any
condition you have that you feel may restrict your receiving
bodywork. Uncontrolled high blood pressure, fever, recent
surgery, phlebitis, recent fractures, heart disease, and any
severe health conditions may contraindicate massage in these
cases.
Increase the Benefits with Frequent Visits
Getting a massage or other bodywork or treatments can do you
a world of good. Frequent sessions can do even more. The results
are cumulative. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled
self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you’ll be and how
youthful you’ll remain with each passing year. Budgeting time
and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an
investment in your health. And remember: just because it feels
like a pampering treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic.
Consider your appointments a necessary piece of your health and
wellness plan, and work with your practitioner to establish a
treatment schedule that best meets your needs.
